Maesdu Bridge Repair

I don't do many blogs about local issues basically because there are other bloggers who do it much better than I could ever do.

With the Chilian earthquake in the news, my thoughts are with the Chilian people, but it reminded me of something that happened in 1994.

In 1994 Los Angeles was hit by an earthquake, and the freeway (motorway) system was severely damaged.

See Pics below. Pictures taken from http://ntl.bts.gov/lib/jpodocs/repts_te/13775.html

It was a massive undertaking to repair the freeway. From the look of all the damage you would think it would take months even years to repair the freeway, but if you take a look at the video, below, you will see something quite amazing.

Yes you heard right, the contractor was given 140 days to complete the repair, but they did it in about 70 days.

So I ask the question. If they can repair all of that freeway system, which included a large bridge section, in 70 days, why is it taking Conwy council 8 months to replace a small bridge?

The Los Angeles earthquake was 16 years ago, and technology has evolved in those 16 years, so why is it taking so long?

Is the Lockerbie bomber dying or not?

The Lockerbie bomber, Ali Mohmed al-Megrahi, was let out of prison on compassionate grounds due to him having terminal cancer, and having 3 months to live.

He was let out in August, it is now coming up to March and apparently there is a chance he may beat the cancer. Read this article for more info.

If he does recover, will he be taken back to prison?

If he does recover, a huge amount of questions must be asked of the doctors that treated him.

The Scottish and Westminster governments must answer to the Families of those who died in the bombing, if Al-Megrahi lives.

This whole situation stinks, and i hope pressure is brought upon the government, be it the Scottish or Westminster, to answer questions weather any deals were done.

Is Immigration out of control?

Well read this article and make your own mind up.

An extract from the article.

A total of 203,865 people were granted British citizenship last year – the equivalent of one every three minutes and a 58 per cent jump on the previous year.

It has been said in other blogs, and I will say it again here;

Has Labour let in so many immigrants, and given them British citizenship, so they will vote labour in the next election?

Going by the polls, there may be some truth to it.

Another point to think about.

Just taking the amount of immigrants let in last year, how many could be criminals or worse terrorists?

How much freedom have we lost?

It is a dark day when a father can't take a picture of his own son without being accused of being a paedophile.

An extract from this article from Sky News;

The dad told Sky News: "Ben spotted a children's ride which had a train on it and wanted to have a go because he's obsessed with trains.

"When he got on my wife suggested we take a picture of him.

"I took the picture on my phone and suddenly this security guard came up and told me it wasn't allowed because I could be a paedophile.

"I told him Ben was my own son. But he said I couldn't prove it. He said there is a real problem with paedophiles and that if I didn't like it, he'd call the manager.

So anyone who takes a picture of a child, even though they are their own son or daughter, is guilty of being a paedophile unless proven innocent.

Is this incident a one off, or is this going on throughout the country?

I would like to ask a question.

If parents are not allowed to take pictures of their own children, then all these CCTV cameras must not record children because the operators might be paedophiles.

Our freedoms are being slowly taken away.

I use to laugh when people said we are living in George Orwell's '1984'.

I am not laughing anymore.

A Future Fair For All

In Gordon Brown's speech last week he said;

'Then my message to you today is simple;
take a second look at us…and take a long hard look at them.'

Well someone is taking a second look at Labour.

Have a look at this site and have a second look at Labour for yourself.

How Many More?

How many more times are we going to see headlines like this;

Starved girl Khyra Ishaq failed by social services, says judge

Khyra Ishaq: missed opportunities

How Khyra Ishaq starved while surrounded by food

The mother and stepfather were convicted of manslaughter.

Why wasn't it premeditated murder. They starved the girl and her siblings, they had a kitchen full of food but they kept it all under lock and key so that they couldn't feed themselves. They tortured that poor girl and her siblings.

Yet again social workers failed in their duty.

How many more times will we see children being killed where social workers could of prevented it.

What i always hear is 'we have lessons to be learned' from social workers and government ministers.

How many years has it been since Victoria Climbie was killed?

How many more?

Why has the government spent so much time on this bullying accusation?

Isn't there more to worry about than the bullying accusations?

Government minister after government minister has come out and defended Gordon Brown.

Yet we still have a massive debt to pay off.

We have an economy, that is barely out of recession.

Our military are fighting a war in Afghanistan.

There are accusations that The UK government is complicit in the killing of a Hamas terrorist.

We have a steelworks closing down in Teeside, why isn't Mandelson taking more time trying to stop the closure, or helping the community get through the tough times ahead.

So i ask you, why are all these government ministers on tv talking about Gordon Brown and how he isn't a bully?

Our country needs it's government to govern, not try and defend someone from bullying accusations.

Yes the bullying accusations need to be sorted, but why isn't Gordon Brown coming out and defending himself. Why is he leaving it up to government ministers?

Gordon Brown's Speech

This is the transcript from this mornings speech by Gordon Brown

This is my reaction to his speech.

The transcript above was taken from the
Labour party website

Gordon Brown MP, Prime Minister and Leader of the Labour Party, today addressed the Labour Party's Spring Campaign Event.

Gordon Brown said:

You know somebody asked me the other day what my secret weapon was for the election.
I think they were expecting me to say those airbrushed posters – The greatest money Labour never spent.

But do you know what our secret weapon actually is?
A pact with the devil?

Our beliefs, and the policies that flow from them.

Labour's belief of using stealth taxes and wring as much money out of people who work and give it to girls who are basically baby factories only to get a house. Also throwing money at people who have never worked and have no intention of working, who receive more money than people who work their arses off.

Because this election will be won or lost not on who has the best PR but whose values best reflect the aspirations of Britain’s mainstream majority.

My aspiration is for our streets to be safe for my family and friends, and criminals to be punished properly, and to serve all of their sentence.

My aspiration is for my family to get a proper education in schools, that aren't war zones, where they learn about Britain's history (the good and bad), where they can learn to read and write properly.

And the coming contest is a big choice; a choice about who’s best for Britain’s future.

Definitely not Labour. I don't even want to imagine what 5 more years of Labour will do to this country.

And you have to ask yourself, why am I looking forward to this contest more than David Cameron?

Are you really Gordon. What are you looking forward to. Is it people to remind you of what you and the Labour party have done to this country in the last 13 years.

For example;

Huge debt, selling the country's gold reserves for next to nothing, making hospitals a bureaucratic nightmare, a police force that can't police due to so much red tape and all that stupid politically correct bull****, making sure our forces are without proper equipment to fight the wars Labour have sent them into. That is just a few examples there are plenty more.

It’s because only New Labour has a plan for Britain - substantial, costed, practical - how we can realise Britain’s values in a future fair for all.

Is it the same plan for Britain you have used for the last 13 years?

And yes New Labour has a record we can be proud of, that in every community in the country we see new schools, new hospitals, more teachers, more doctors, more nurses, more police, new Children's Centres.

A record to be proud of, yeah right.
New schools - maybe some, but how many schools have become like war zones where discipline in the classrooms are a joke and the pupils who want to learn haven't a chance.
More teachers - no, more teaching assistants actually,

More nurses - no, more agency nurses and care assistants actually, and of the qualified nurses, how many have come from abroad and who don't understand English properly;
see http://militantmedicalnurse.blogspot.com/
More Doctors - yes there maybe more doctors, but how many have come from hospitals around the world, causing a lack of qualified doctors in their own country.
More police - Well maybe, but how many of that number is the PCSOs. Yes there might be more police on the books, but where are they? It is very rare indeed to see any police on the beat, where I live.
See http://pcbloggs.blogspot.com/

That’s the change the Tories never talk about, but that’s the change we see:
- The NHS renewed and lives saved;

More managers employed than nurses, more cases of MRSA, postcode lottery in the NHS, Nurse to patient ratio sometimes 1 nurse to 25 patients. Lives saved, yes but how many have died needlessly.
- Jobs created and families held together and;
How many jobs created have been in government (local and national)? How many jobs have been lost due to lack of government support? How many jobs have been lost overseas?
- Schools built and potential unlocked.
Yes new schools have been built, but potential, how come we have dropped to 24th in the worlds literacy rankings from being 7th?

Yes we can be proud of the Britain we’ve been building together – dreams achieved, ambitions realised, hopes fulfilled and lives changed.

A Britain Labour have been building on a foundation of sand, Dreams of losing Britain's national identity, lives changed for the worse, in my opinion.

We should be proud but never satisfied, because our work is not yet done.

Is Labour proud of what it has done to Britain? How much worse can you make this country?

And elections are not verdicts on the past –they are choices for the future. And we will go in to this election fighting for causes every inch as great and every inch as noble as any a government has fought for before.

Why shouldn't the election be a verdict on what Labour has done in the last 13 years? What causes will Labour be fighting for, more criminals let out only serving half of their sentence (Breaking news 22/02/10, as i right this the government will be scrapping the early release scheme),
more uncontrolled immigration, more red tape, more stupid politically correct bull****, Health and safety that goes beyond common sense.

Because we are fighting today for an ideal as visionary as the National Health Service – the dream of a National Care Service to take the fear out of old age.

Death tax, inheritance tax

And we are fighting for a future where for the first time every single young person of this generation has the guarantee of training or a job.

Is that every young person, or every young person who wants to work for a living?

And we are fighting for a future where Britain is not isolated but a leader of Europe, a country that has led the world and will continue to lead the world on protecting our planet and securing justice for its poor.

Does that mean you will be taking us fully into Europe taking us into the Euro, giving up the rest of our sovereignty?

And with the investment we are making we are fighting for a future we have never dared hope for before – one where we beat cancer … in this generation.

Let us hope this is true and not just Labour spin.

And today we are setting out our plan to build a future fair for all:

First, we must secure the recovery, Not put it at risk.

Yes we must secure the recovery, but who put us in the dire circumstances in the first place?

Second, we must support new industries & future jobs.

What about all the old and traditional industries, the steel industry in Teeside for example, where the owners TERI are mothballing the site in Teeside, but are building one in India.

Third, as we reduce the deficit by half, we must protect and not cut frontline services.

But we can get rid of all the non jobs Labour have created, but how many people would be unemployed if they were out of a job?

And fourth, we must stand up for the many not the few.

Yes, but don't tax the few so much that they leave the country. The few are the ones who create businesses and who create the jobs that the like of me are employed in.

And I want to talk to you today about how I have changed and what I have learned. For me, the lesson of the crisis is that we need to renew our faith in the Britain that believes in hard work, enterprise and responsibility.

So is Labour going to admit responsibility for ruining this country?

It’s the Britain of the family who work hard, pay their way and play their part. Of the business that takes an apprentice although times are tight. Of the communities that stick together even when the going is hard.

Then why have you taxed the working family so much and given so much tax payers money to people who don't want to work, because they get more money on the dole.

And I’ve concluded that the very values that made our country great – the values of fairness and responsibility - are the surest foundations of our future success.

The values that you have ruined since Labour came to power.

Markets are essential. They help us grow as a nation, they give us the resources to fight poverty, ignorance and disease and they serve the cause of freedom and prosperity.

Freedom and prosperity that you have given away to Europe.

But it is now more clear than ever that markets need morals. Without that they go astray and can lead us to focus on the price of things, not the value of things. They can cause people to take reckless risks for which others pay the price.

But didn't Labour change the regulations on banking that helped cause the financial breakdown.

So we need to say anew that markets should serve the public and not the other way around.

So we are ensuring that the public money that was put into the nation's banks is fully repaid.
With interest i hope.

We have raised the tax rate on earnings above £150,000 and set a 50% tax on this year’s bonuses over £25,000.

What about all the stealth taxes you have raised on the working people of this country?

We have restructured our banks and are ensuring they have the capital they need.

Labour have given the capital to the banks but they aren't giving it to businesses that need money to help in the recession.

And we are now discussing with other countries the prospect of a global levy on banks which would help achieve our domestic objectives as well as tackle global poverty and climate change.

Climate change that isn't scientifically proven yet, no matter what other people say.

We are making these changes because Britain needs to rebuild. We need and will renew the economy, renew our infrastructure and renew our industrial base.

We wouldn't have to renew the economy and industries if you looked after it in the first place.

And that is why we have decided that as a nation and a government that we will back British scientists, invest in renewable energy, give priority to biotechnology and advanced manufacturing, encourage digital and creative industries.

It is Labour which has a vision of a new economy, a decade in which Britain can lead and succeed.

What was up with the old one economy, the one you ruined.

We are determined to reduce the deficit that emerged as a consequence of the world recession and that is why we have already announced tax changes.

Yes, there is a world recession, but we have been in a deeper recession than every other developed nation, because of your handling of this countries economy.

And we will take tough action on spending, not just efficiency drives but cuts in some areas. But our bottom line is we will protect the front line… our schools, our hospitals, our police.

Will you protect the managers or the front line police, nurses teachers, etc.

And it is only Labour who are prepared to offer direct support to the business community of a total of one billion pounds so that every family and every business in Britain has access to the newest high speed broadband as we become the world-leading digital economy.

Didn't you say that a few years ago?

Only Labour who have a plan to make Britain a world leader in a four-trillion dollar market for green, clean energy goods and services, opening up the prospects of 400,000 new green jobs for t he British people.

At what cost to other areas of Britain's economy?

And only Labour who is lifting the number of apprenticeships from 65,000 in 1997 to nearly a quarter of a million this year and only Labour who are targeting investment in manufacturing centres around the regions to help UK businesses develop the best-selling products of the future.

And so my message to the people of Britain today is simple.

I know that Labour hasn’t done everything right. And I know – really, I know – that I’m not perfect.

Is there anything Labour has done right?
We all know Gordon, that you are not perfect, you are totally the wrong person to be PM
.

But I know where I come from, I know what I stand for, and I know who I came into politics to represent. And if you, like me, are from Britain’s mainstream majority – from an ordinary family that wants to get on and not simply get by, then my message to you today is simple; take a second look at us…and take a long hard look at them.
We have been looking at you for the last 13 years, we don't need a second look. We need a new government that isn't Labour.

Take a second look at how we’re creating jobs – and take a long hard look at how the day after the election their policies would put the recovery and your jobs at risk.

What has Labour's policies done for this country over the last 13 years?

Take a second look at our NHS guarantees and take a long hard look at their plans to cut your right to see a cancer specialist within two weeks, cut your right to see a GP in the evenings and at weekends, cut your right to get your operation in the shortest possible time.

Is this a cast iron guarantee or just spin?

Take a second look at how we will improve the prospects for your children – and a take a long hard look at their plans that hurt middle class families. Plans to cut your Child Tax Credits, cut your child’s trust fund, cut your Children's Centres and cut the budget of your schools.

Labour have taxed the middle classes to death, literally. It may not be income tax that they have raised, but stealth taxes have soared under Labour. What Labour give, they take away 2 fold.

Can they really say they understand the needs of mainstream Britain when they would kick away the ladders of opportunity that guarantee young people training or a job?

Can they really say they understand the needs of mainstream Britain when they think those most in need of a tax cut are the 3000 wealthiest estates?

When they now vote to keep hereditary seats in the House of Lords?

What about Labour's cash for hounours scandle. What about about Labour filling the Lords with Labour supporting peers.

When they think legalising fox-hunting is a priority?

How many hours were wasted in parliment banning fox hunting in the first place? I'm not for hunting, but i'm not against it either. This was a legislating over class.

When they think that Manchester is like the wire?

Has Gordon Brown been to moss side recently?

And when they state that 54%, more than half the girls in Birmingham and Liverpool are pregnant by the time they’re 18?

Mistakes happen, Labour have been one massive mistake Britain may never recover from.

Can they claim they know the aspirations of mainstream Britain when they so clearly understand so little of how we live?

Does Labour?

When it comes to the most vulnerable people in our society, if you put partisan point scoring before a consensus on social care, real families really suffer.

If you frighten people with made up figures on crime, real families really suffer.

The official crime figures are made up.

And if you talk Britain down in the middle of a recession and undermine confidence, real families really suffer.

Does the truth hurt Gordon?

Because government is not a game.

Because when you peel away the veneer and actually look at what their policies mean, what you see is not the new economics of the future, it’s the same old Conservative economics of the 1980s. How can they be the party of change, when they haven’t even changed themselves?

Labour changed to 'New Labour', but when you peel the veneer away from 'New Labour' it is just the same Labour of old.

And it is precisely because they have not changed, that they cannot and will not join the emerging progressive consensus of the British people which is coming together around the big challenges our country must meet and master in this new decade.

Labour put us in this position, where we have a challenge to meet in the next decade.

Just consider climate change – a huge challenge facing humanity on which we agree with the scientists, the green campaigners and the business leaders that urgent action is vital, but which the Tory party high command now says is not even a top ten policy priority.
Climate change, not all scientists agree. Climate change is just another way to tax us.

Or think about our industrial policy and our British jobs of the future. Take one example – high speed rail, a project of vital importance to the future of our country, of vital importance here in the West Midlands – but the Tories have chosen to put short term political calculations ahead of the national interest.

Or take the debate on social care, how can they be the party of change, when yesterday they boycotted the charities and experts and campaign groups trying to find the common ground for the future of social care.

The death tax

Or take the renewal of politics, like reforming the way we elect Parliament, where we made common cause with liberals and reformers– a cause where the big progressive majority was for change –only the Tories ruled out any change at all.

What about the BNP being elected to the EU parliment. Is that the political reform you want. that is what you will have if you reform the way we elect MPs.

All they have done is to change their appearance, to give the appearance of change.

I think this is a classic example of the 'pot calling the kettle black .'

But where the challenges for the future are greatest and the need for change the most urgent, the Conservative Party have become again what their historical role has always been; to set themselves against the change the country needs, the change the British people want to see.

I don't know about all the British people, but i certainly don't want another Labour government.

And so I say today to every progressive in Britain – of every hue and every background – if you believe in a progressive future fair for all, then New Labour is your home.

Then i want to leave home immediatley.

If you believe in -
securing the recovery, not putting it at risk – then New Labour is your home.
Packing my bags.

If you believe in -
protecting and not cutting frontline services – then New Labour is your home.
Calling a cab.

If you believe in -
supporting new industries & future jobs and not simply leaving them to chance – then New Labour is your home,
Getting in the cab.

and If you believe in - standing up for the many, not the few – then New Labour is your home.
I have now left home.

And so to those who are beginning to wonder how to use their vote, ask yourself whether at heart you believe in fairness and individual opportunity. Ask whether you want to keep on the road to economic recovery or to return to the same old social divisions of the Tory years.

At Heart i don't want to see another Labour government.

And so today I issue a call to every progressive to come together to fight for the values we cherish and the country we love.

Come together to make sure Labour doesn't win another election.

This campaign is not going to be won somewhere else by someone else - it’s going to be won street by street, school-gate by school-gate, workplace by workplace – it’s going to be won by you.

If you believe in taking this country forwards not backwards then Labour are the change-makers in this election. And that is why Labour supporters are campaigning with all the fire and fervour of people who’ve got not just candidates but a cause, not just an election to win but a future to fight for.

Labour are the change makers, yes i agree with that, look what they have done in the last 13 years.

So don’t ever stop believing that every single child has worth. That every single person has something to contribute. That a prosperous country can be a fair one too.

A country fair to who? The criminals, the people who get more money on benifits than hard working people who pay for the people who don't want to work. Labour havs caused the unfairness in this country.

And don’t ever stop believing that everything you do in the coming weeks will matter. That you can make the difference.

A new government that isn't Labour

Don’t ever stop believing that a future fair for all is in your hands.

A future without Labour.

Ours to shape.

Ours to build.

And ours to win.

Gordon Brown's Speech

Well what can i say. I will have to digest all that before i give a proper reply, but i will say this.

Gordon Brown said take a long hard look at the Tory's, well i would prefer to take a long hard look at Labour.

Labour have been in power for 13 years, I ask everyone to think what has changed in the last 13 years.

They say more nurses have been employed, if you want to see what it is like on a hospital ward check out http://militantmedicalnurse.blogspot.com/

They said more police have been employed, if you want to see what it is like to be in the police today check out http://pcbloggs.blogspot.com/

That is just a start, I will have a bigger rant later.

'A Future Fair For All'

The New campaign slogan for the Labour party, 'A future Fair for all'.

I wonder what Gordon Brown is going to say.

Is Gordon Brown saying that the last 13 years of the Labour Government has been 'fair for all'. That's blatantly obvious.

What is Gordon Brown going to do to make the 'future fair for all'?

Is he going to give some money back from all the stealth taxes he has taken from all the people who work, their arses off, for a living.

Is he going to take money away from the people who haven't worked, and don't want to work, and are raking in thousands of pounds through benefits. In a lot of cases earning more money than a couple who work for a living.

I can't wait to see what Gordon Brown says. What's the betting he won't commit to anything, just a lot of hot air and spin.

Tories cannot be trusted with economy, says Gordon Brown

The comment was taken from this article.

So who do we trust, Labour?

Take a look at the you tube video i found on Tory Totty Online Blog, called A Message to the Voting Public

Labour has ruined this country's economy, police, health care, manufacturing and culture to name a few. There are so many.

Yes the Torys have faults, but this country cannot survive another 3 months, let alone another 5 years, of a Labour government.

Tony Bliar, Gordon Brown and the Labour party have done so much damage to this country I hope we can repair what has been done.

If a sign ever showed the truth, this is it.

It comes from this article.

Shoe Addiction

This is the headline from this article.

Man arrested for stealing 1,200 pairs of shoes in Seoul

I thought it was women who have a shoe addiction.

My wife certainly has this affliction. (Going into hiding to avoid a clip round the ear)

Wednesday 17 February 2010

I wonder why?

This is the headline to this article;

Councils afraid to say how much they pay chiefs

Council chiefs in England and Wales have refused to disclose the salaries of thousands of senior staff, claiming it would lead to a public outcry.

To get the best people to do a job then you have to pay a decent wage, but we pay these council officials wages and we, the taxpayer, have a right to know what we are paying these people.

An extract from the article;

Councils have been criticised for granting pay rises to officials at a time when householders face increasing council tax bills and, in many cases, poor quality services.

Since 1997-98, the council tax bill for a typical band D property in England and Wales has increased from £688 to £1,414.

My council tax has increased similar to what the article says.

What I want to know is exactly how much of the council tax money is used to pay these council officials, and their pensions, and how much is used on the 'council services' we receive.

As the headline says councils are afraid to publish what they pay these officials, so it makes you wonder exactly how much of OUR money are they paying them.

I for one would like to know.

A Shocking Story

I have just read this Blog by G.O.T which links to this story on Old Holborn Blog.

I am shocked, angry and so incensed at what is happening in Scotland.

As G.O.T says Read the blog and spread the word.

Tuesday 16 February 2010

Now here's a shock announcement

This the headline to this article in the Telegraph;

Full-body scanners at airports may be illegal, warns equality watchdog

Britain’s equality watchdog has warned that full-body scanners, brought in at airports to help catch terrorists, may be illegal.

I am in total shock at this announcement, not.

These scanners are to protect the innocent people from getting killed.

Yes, we may lose some dignity with it showing certain parts, but if it stops terrorists from killing people I think I can live with it.

Is Gordon Brown the most financially incompetent Chancellor of all time?

Have a read of this Blog by Steve Green's 'Daily Referendum'

It is about what Gordon Brown's Mansion House speech in 2007.

Have a read of the blog;

I was reminded of Gordon Brown's Mansion House speech of 2007 by John in the comments of my previous post about Gordon's dodgy moral compass.

This speech was given JUST before the world's economy fell around our ears and it shows just how incompetent Gordon Brown was as Chancellor:

"So I congratulate you Lord Mayor and the City of London on these remarkable achievements, an era that history will record as the beginning of a new golden age for the City of London.

""And I believe it will be said of this age, the first decades of the 21st century, that out of the greatest restructuring of the global economy, perhaps even greater than the industrial revolution, a new world order was created.

"Golden Age? only it was to be Fools Gold.

I hope the other political parties remind him of this speech.

Is this karma?

Possibly the best road safety advert ever.

I was emailed a link, to a you tube video, about wearing a seat belt.

After seeing all the government road safety adverts over the years, this advert actually hits the nail on the head big time.

Take a look and see if you agree.

Talk about a blind date.

Have a read of this, it made me chuckle.

Arab ambassador discovers bride is bearded and cross-eyed behind veil

An Arab ambassador has called off his wedding after discovering his wife-to-be who wears a face-covering veil is bearded and cross-eyed.

This is the rest of the story.

The envoy had only met the woman a few times, during which she had hidden her face behind a niqab, the Gulf News reported.

After the marriage contract was signed, the ambassador attempted to kiss his bride-to-be. It was only then that he discovered her facial hair and eyes.

The ambassador told an Islamic Sharia court in the United Arab Emirates he was tricked into the marriage as the woman's mother had shown his own mother pictures of her sister instead of his bride-to-be.

He sued for the contract to be annulled and also demanded the woman pay him 500,000 dirhams (£85,000) for clothes, jewelry and other gifts he had bought for her.

The court annulled the contract but rejected the ambassador's demand for compensation.
The report did not identify the ambassador.

Maybe next time he thinks about marrying someone, perhaps he should take a peak under her veil before agreeing.

Is this guy out of touch?

Housing minister says repossession is the 'best thing' for home owners

The housing minister suggested repossession is the “best thing” for struggling home owners on the day figures showed evictions reached a 14-year high.

That is the headline to this article.

This comes from a guy who made a profit of £88,000 on a flat. See extract from the article below;

As part of The Daily Telegraph’s investigation into MPs expenses, Mr Healey was found to have made a profit of £88,000 on a flat in south London that was subsidized by the taxpayer for at least five years.

He was also found to have claimed £1,317 to replace his own front door, while he overclaimed more than £2,000 for mortgage interest.

We, the taxpayer, subsidized his flat and he makes a profit on it.

This government let the housing market spiral out of control with mortgages worth four, five, six or more times your salary.

It just couldn't be sustained and it all came crashing down.

People losing their homes must be devastating for them, but you get an idiot come on and say it is the best thing for them to lose their homes.

These people work their arses off trying to keep a roof over their family's head, but you John Healey housing minister, have had your home subsidized by US, your mortgage interest paid by US, furniture paid by US, repairs paid by US.

Does anyone want to bring back the old, and forgotten art of tar and feathering people.

What has Gordon Brown done for Britain since his first Budget?

That is the headline to, in my opinion, a very honest article, by Jeff Randell, that looks at the state of the UK finances since Labour came to power.

The last paragraph says it all;

In short, sterling is in the toilet, our pensions have been slaughtered, cash savings yield almost nothing, the country is up to its neck in unprecedented debt, the banking system is awash with funny money, our gold reserves were sold off at rock-bottom prices, and Britain’s dole queue is considerably longer than before Crash Gordon began cooking the books.

Apart from that, it’s not too bad.

I knew we were in for a rough ride over the next few years, but i am starting to think it is going to be worse.

Thank you so much Tony, Gordon and the rest of your cronies in the Labour Party for ruining this Great Nation.

Oh Dear

Gordon Brown’s care plan misleads the elderly, say councils

That is the headline to this article from the Times

What will he do now?

Certain aspects of the muslim faith that I don't like.

Girl, 12, fighting to divorce 80-year-old husband in Saudi Arabia

That is the headline to this article in the Telegraph.

A girl of 12 fighting to divorce her 80 year old husband.

An Extract from the article;

Saudi Arabia, a patriarchal society that applies an austere version of Sunni Islam, has no minimum legal age for marriage. Fathers are granted guardianship over their daughters, giving them control over who their daughters marry and when. However, it is rare for a child bride to challenge the match.

I don't think there is anything more to add to this.

The headline says it all.

The quicker we get hydrogen powered cars the better.

A message from the UK minister for Justice

I have to show you this.

I found this on A Tangled Web Blog.

Who does Malik support, the whole of the UK or just the muslim community.

I hope everyone shares this video just to show what Malik really is like.

Take a look and see what you think.

How much money has this government given to the climate change lobby?

Climate makes money move in mysterious ways

The British Government has been pouring millions of pounds into 'climate-related' projects all over the world

That is the headline to this article from the Telegraph it is an eye opener to the incredible amounts of money this government has given to climate related projects.

Here are a couple of extracts;

In all the coverage lately given to the UN's Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change and its embattled chairman, Dr Rajendra Pachauri, one rather important part of the story has largely been missed. This is the way in which, in its obsession with climate change, different branches of the UK Government have in recent years been pouring hundreds of millions of pounds of taxpayers' money into a bewildering array of "climate-related" projects, often throwing a veil of mystery over how much is being paid, to whom and why.

To begin with a small example. Everyone has now heard of "Glaciergate", the inclusion in the IPCC's 2007 report of a wild claim it was recently forced to disown, that by 2035 all Himalayan glaciers will have melted. In 2001 the Department for International Development (DfID) spent £315,277 commissioning a team of British scientists to investigate this prediction. After co-opting its Indian originator, Dr Syed Hasnain, they reported in 2004 that his claim was just a scare story. Some glaciers were retreating, others were not. There was no way they could disappear in a time-span shorter than many centuries.

Three years later, however, when the IPCC produced its 2007 report, it endorsed Dr Hasnain's claim without any mention of the careful UK-funded study which had shown it to be false

and

The trail into this tangled undergrowth began last December, when Dr Richard North and I were trying to track down 11 payments made by four separate government departments for projects involving Teri Europe, the London-based branch of Dr Pachauri's institute. We were struck by how reluctant the ministries often seemed to be to reveal how much they had paid under these contracts. What's more, why was UK taxpayers' money being used to fund these projects in the first place?

Why is this government giving so much money away?

Have a read of the whole article it certainly is an eye opener.

Alan Johnson announces crackdown on student visas

That is the headline to this article in the Guardian.

Have Labour just realised there is a problem with abuse of the student visa program?

Labour have had years to sort this problem out, but they did nothing.

Only now, with an election due, it has now become a problem.

This is going to be a Rant, because i need to let off some steam.

Now here's a thought.

How many Labour supporters will Gordon Brown send to the Lords to ruin it for the next government?

What's the betting he will send so many Labour supporters to the Lords that the new Tory (I hope, anyone but Labour) government will have a hard time making new laws because there will be so many Labour peers to stop them.

What has happened to this country?

Democracy, Honour, Justice, Truth, Law and Order, Pride in this Country, Loyalty and Respect to name a few are all dying, if not dead, in this country.

This Country use to be called Great Britain, what has happened to it?

Is it too late to save this country?

NO

We can't let this country fall further into this hole, that Labour have dug for us.

We need to take our country back.

There must be criminal responsibility, so if you break the law you will be punished appropriately.

Doing what's right for family friends, neighbours and country.

Like what John F Kennedy said in his inaugural address in 1961;

Ask not what your country can do for you - Ask what you can do for your country.

From what i can see, there is a large proportion of people who just take take take. There are far fewer people who give, but it is the ones who take who are rewarded.

Like the ones on the dole who haven't worked in their life and have no intention of changing. The ones who fake injury and claim disability benefits, but have nothing wrong with them.

What about all the volunteers who give their time for no or very little money. e.g St John's Ambulance and the RNLI to name just 2 of so many.

Other things that need looking at:

These baby factories. Yes i am talking about certain women who just churn out more children just so they can get more money off social security, and then spend as little of the money as possible on the children.

Children need discipline. I'm not talking about smacking them or using the cane, but they need punishment if they do wrong, so they no right from wrong. If that happens when they are young enough then maybe we won't have so many out of control kids in the schools and on the streets.

Politicians need to be answerable to the voters, and not just at election times. We need to make sure they do what the voters want and not the party machine.

A Government that doesn't let someone free because they are allegedly dying, so we can have first dips on their oil.

We need to let the police do the job with out all the red tape, the (in)human rights and all the other stupid politically correct crap holding them back.

We need prisons that punish the criminal, not give them play stations and TVs in their cells. The criminal must have a fear of going to prison, then maybe they will think twice about committing the crime.

We need schools that will give a proper education to our children. They must teach them to read and write properly, know how to do math, learn the proper history of this country, and not the politically correct crap that they are teaching now. They must teach our children with out so much political interference.

We need to get rid of the bureaucracy in the NHS and employ more nurses and doctors. Why does it take so many managers to run a hospital?

Didn't the government think that letting so many immigrants into this country would cause social and other problems. Another thought, just how many immigrants that the Labour govenment let in are terrorist sympathisers and have damaged the security of this country

Is it right that councils use anti terrorist legislation to snoop on people, and who also have the right to enter your own home with out a warrant or a police officer.

Basically we need to get this country back to normality, back to reason, back to some good sense, back to responsibility.

Rant over. Thank you for your time.

The thought of having this woman in the House of Lords

Read this headline from the Mail and wonder what she will do to the Hose of Lords

Make Cherie a Baroness! Extraordinary row over plan to elevate Mrs Blair to Lords

An extract;

A political row is brewing over a controversial move to give Cherie Blair a peerage – making her the first Prime Minister’s spouse to be elevated to the Lords since Clementine Churchill.

Allies of Mrs Blair say she is entitled to the honour on the basis of her decade in No10, her record as a leading lawyer and her charity work.

In my opinion, she has no right to be elevated to the Lords.

What has she done to be given this honour?

Being Tony Blair's wife.

Being a judge who lets off someone who breaks some one's jaw for being a religious man.

Getting a crook to buy 2 flats so she could get a discount on them, then saying 'she is just a normal mum' yeah right, when she got caught.

When told she could have a couple of free items, from a store, she took 68 items up to about £2000.

Having her bills for hairdressing paid for by the Labour party funds.

Getting people off criminal acts or getting them to stay in this country using the (in) Human rights act.

The only other PMs wife to be elevated to the Lords was Lady Churchill due to the loyal support of her husband Winston Churchill during WW2.

Another extract;

However, the idea, which is being actively discussed in senior Labour circles, is likely to run into criticism from those who may question whether she deserves the same recognition as Lady Churchill

How can this woman be given the same privilege as the wife of Winston Churchill.

Cherie Blair, like her husband, has no honour.

She has admitted to being republican who wants to get rid of the Queen, so how the hell would she be allowed to be given a Peerage?

The answer is just to keep Tony Bliar on side to help Gordon Brown in the election.

How much lower can this government get?

Pat Condell video on the Geert Wilders trial

Another video from Pat Condell. This video is about the trail of Geert Wilders, and as Pat Condell says it is also a trail of free speech in the Netherlands.

What Planet are these 'Supreme Court' Judges On

The UK Supreme court has decided to unfreeze terrorist's money.

Here is an extract from an article in the Telegraph

In one of its first decisions, our new Supreme Court has decided to lend a helping hand to terrorism. It did so via an under-reported judgment, issued last week, which torpedoed the Government's policy of freezing terrorists' assets.

That policy was the result of implementing UN Security Council Resolutions. No one doubts that one of the best ways of combating terrorism is to make it as difficult as possible for terrorists to get the funds they need to commit mass murder. That's why the Security Council, in the wake of the US embassy bombings in Africa in 1998, and again after September 11, asked all member states to freeze the assets of groups and individuals it identified as being involved in terrorism.

So in their infinite wisdom they are going to give terrorists their money back.

The United Nations, a world body, has asked countries to freeze terrorist assets. Yes the UN doesn't get it right all the time, but cutting the cash flow to terrorists is a good idea.

Another extract;

It is impossible to understand why their lordships think that such a consideration should take precedence over diminishing a clear and present danger to national security. They know what terrorism involves: scores or even hundreds of people injured or killed by bombs meant to murder as many innocents as possible

It has been said before by many people, but i will say it again. Judges need to live in the real world once in a while and find out what real life is about and how, we, the normal people of this country live.

If terrorists get their money and a terrorist incident happens, god forbid, the judges will have blood on their hands.

What's next for the 'supreme court', invite Bin Laden to lunch?

This decision has to be reversed pretty damn quick.

How the Left Wrecked State Education (again)

This is the title of an excellent blog by Tory Totty Online.

It tells of how the education of our children has suffered under 13 years of a Labour government.

An extract from the blog says;

England has now dropped from 3rd to 19th place in the International Reading Literacy Study.

That statement, if correct, is unforgivable.

How can a government let our children's education fail so badly?

Where is Labour's 'Education, education, education' promise?

How long will it take to get our education system back on track?

Labour can never be trusted again with our children's education. Let alone anything else.

Have a read of Tory Totty's blog and see what you think.

This is a Good One

I hope you like this, it is from Militant Medical Nurse from her Blog 'A Good One'

A postoperative patient became angry during morning rounds.

The doctor and the nurse had entered his room to review his progress.

The very young petite woman kept responding to the questions that the patient was directing at the big, tall, muscular man in scrubs.

He wanted answers from the doctor dammit, not some “dumb slut nurse” as he phrased it.

The ITU Nurse–a former Big Ten offensive lineman (American football player) politely introduced the patient to the little woman and informed angry patient that she was the brilliant cardiothoracic surgeon who had saved his life the night before.

The cardiothoracic surgeon, in turn, pointed to the big guy and introduced the patient to the “dumb nurse whose brains and education will be keeping you alive for the next 12 hours while I am away seeing my other patients.”

The money I would pay to see the patient's face.

A Labour Candidate for a Liverpool seat? My Arse!

I have just been reading this article in the Mail.

If you are going to put a candidate in a city, make sure they know some of the history first.

Here is an extract from the article;

The questions were simple enough for any self-respecting Scouser - who was Bill Shankly, and who sang Ferry Cross The Mersey?

Even the dimmest pub quiz team in Liverpool would surely have come up with the answers in a flash.

But 28-year-old Luciana Berger, Labour's bright young hope to win the crucial Liverpool Wavertree seat at the next election, was forced to admit she didn't know.

Words fail me.

Why wasn't she told to learn more about the city?

Another extract;

So incensed is actor Ricky Tomlinson at the glamorous Miss Berger's lack of local knowledge that the Royle Family patriarch is planning to stand against her at the election.

The 70-year-old former picket-line militant, who has lived most of his life in Liverpool, said he could even use the TV slob's celebrated catchphrase as a campaign slogan: 'Berger? My arse!'

Please Ricky, put yourself up for the election. It will be interesting to see if people will vote for a local candidate or someone who will tow the party line, even if it goes against their constituency's wishes

It does make me wonder how many candidates, throughout the country, are local to their constituencies, and how many have been parachuted in by their party from another location?

(In) Human Rights Act and the Criminal (An Update)

This is an update to what i wrote in my previous Blog about the human rights act and the criminal.

In the Telegraph today there is this article about an arsonist in jail boasting about what he gets up to in prison.

An extract from the article;

One post read: ''Made a nice chocolate cake today, I ate it all to myself! I now regret not sharing it, because I feel sick!''

Another said: ''All day is playing on my PlayStation and listing to music with my feet up, drinking prison home brew. I was ------.''

Does this sound like he is being punished?

Will his time in jail make him a reformed character?

I doubt it very much. I bet he will miss having all the luxuries he had in prison so much that he will commit another crime just to get sent back down.

I work my arse off to get the small luxuries i have, but being in prison you get them given to you. I have to scrimp and save to buy a game console and the games, but all a prisoner has to do is request one, and if they get refused they claim it is against their human rights.

Where is the punishment?

This has to stop.

Prison is meant to be a punishment for criminals, not a holiday camp.

Wednesday 3 February 2010

How can these people sleep at night?

I am talking about the people who let off James Moore, the thug who killed Joseph Lappin.

How do you feel knowing that you played a part in the killing of this poor lad.

An extract from the article in the Telegraph.

Moore, an Asbo thug who broke orders designed to control his criminal behaviour almost 50 times, stabbed the 16 year-old army cadet through the heart outside the Liverpool youth club in October 2008, prosecutors said.

How can someone break ASBOs, and other orders, 50 times and not be in prison or a secure unit of some sorts.

I would like to ask all the people who let this thug back on the streets to explain, to Joseph Lappin's parents, why they let him out time after time after time?

If they just jailed him once this poor lad might still be alive today.

An extract from the article

Moore, who came from a “dysfunctional family” who had helped looked after his brother who had cerebral palsy, then made further breaches of the order even after being initially arrest for the teenager’s murder and had been released on police bail.

The Judge said;

It may well be that the vital part he has played in the care of his brother and the profound family difficulties contributed to the remarkable leniency shown by the courts.

Coming from a dysfunctional family isn't an excuse to commit crimes. If Moore really cared for his brother why didn't he try and stay out of trouble?

Because of these bleeding hearts, a family have lost a son.

When will the government realise that ASBOs don't work unless you enforce them.

How many families are there that have had a loved one beaten to an inch of their life, or have been killed by a thug who has had an ASBO, or has been let out early from prison.

Like i said in my previous Blog;

It is time to get tough and i mean tough on the criminals. Make them worry about being caught by the authorities and about going to prison.

Get rid of their televisions and play stations. Make it so prison is hard on them and scares them, maybe then they will think twice about committing a crime.

The criminals should be scared of going to jail.

If they know that if they get caught they will have a tough time in jail they might think twice before committing a crime.

At the moment they have no fear of the police or prison.

If something can come out of this tragedy, I hope the authorities will come down harder on these thugs who break ASBos and other orders. Maybe then the streets will be a bit safer

(In) Human Rights Act and the Criminal.

I have been reading a blog by Tory Totty Online called Labour robs us of civil liberties on one hand and glorifies the human rights of criminals on the other.

It is about David Cameron and what he said about burglars losing their human rights if the break in to someones home.

In my opinion David Cameron is right that a criminal should lose his human rights if he (or she) commits a crime, and i seriously don't want the bleeding heart story about how they had a tough upbringing.

I have so had enough of the criminals getting off lightly for crimes, because they had a rough upbringing. Oh boo hoo.

How many people out there had a rough upbringing, but worked hard for themselves and made a decent living.

I have worked hard all my life and i am not about to let some criminal steal from me.

The (in)human rights act should not be allowed for the criminals. If a burglar breaks into a house then, as DC has said he loses all rights.

It is time to get tough and i mean tough on the criminals. Make them worry about being caught by the authorities and about going to prison.

Get rid of their televisions and play stations. Make it so prison is hard on them and scares them, maybe then they will think twice about committing a crime.

In Tory Totty's blog there is also a you tube video of 'Margaret Thatchers last stand against Socialism'.

In the video she hit the nail on the head with her predictions on europe and what would happen if Labour got into power.

I have copied it here;

We need someone like Mrs Thatcher, someone with the strength to guide Britain back to what it once was. Someone who will fight for Britain and put Britain first.
